Reign signs Irvine's Stretch

ONTARIO – Center C.J. Stretch (Irvine) was one of two players signed by the Ontario Reign on Thursday.

Stretch, who played in the Reign's season-finale in April, scored his first professional goal in that game. He played five seasons for the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL, recording 248 points (85 goals-163 assists in a franchise-record 341 games.
Stretch, who was the Blazers' co-MVP this past season, led Kamloops in points (81), goals (30), assists (51) and game-winning goals (9). He finished 17th in the WHL in scoring and assists.
“Being with the team for a week last year was a great experience,” Stretch told the team's official Web site. “I’m excited for the opportunity to play in Ontario, especially with my family and friends so close by in my hometown.”
The Reign also re-signed veteran defenseman Chad Starling, 29, who has played the past two seasons with the Reign. Starling, who hails from Delisle, Saskatchewan, has appeared in 144 games with the Reign, notching 19 points (3-16) and 183 penalty minutes the past two seasons.
