Monsters open season on the road
FRESNO – The Fresno Monsters will play their first NAHL game on Sept. 15 in the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minn., and play their home opener on Oct. 22 at Selland Arena, the club announced recently.
The Monsters' home opener begins a two-game series against the defending champion Wenatchee Wild. The Monsters' season-opener is against the Bismarck Bobcats.
After playing four games in four days at the NAHL Showcase, the Monsters hit the road Oct. 1 for an eight-game, 15-day trip through Alaska and Washington before returning home.
“We are very excited to finally have our 2010-2011 season schedule announced,” said Head Coach and General Manager Eric Ballard. “With 27 home games here in Fresno, Selland Arena and our dedicated fans will see another great year of hockey.”
Each of the 26 teams in the league's four divisions - the Central, North, South and West - will play 58 games.
Celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2010-11, the NAHL, the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier II Junior A league boasting 26 teams from across North America, prides itself on the social maturity and skill development of student-athletes ages 16-20 with aspirations of advancing to collegiate and/or professional hockey.
