Sharks sign pair of depth free agents
SAN JOSE -- San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced that the team has signed two unrestricted free agents -- left wing T.J. Trevelyan and defenseman Sean Sullivan -- to a one-year contract each. In keeping with club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Last season with the Worcester Sharks, Trevelyan led the team in goals (28), matching his career high despite missing 17 games due to injury. He notched 44 points (28 goals, 16 assists) in 63 games
In the AHL Playoffs, he tied for the team lead with four goals, despite missing three games, and finished with six points (four goals, two assists) in eight games.
Trevelyan has played in 271 American Hockey League games with Providence, Iowa and Worcester, posting 182 points (97 goals, 85 assists) and 98 penalty minutes.
The 5-foot-9, 180-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario played four collegiate seasons at St. Lawrence, where he was one of ten finalists for the Hobey Baker Award in 2005-06. That same season, he led the ECAC in scoring and was named First Team All-American and ECAC Player of the Year
In 77 games with San Antonio (AHL) during 2009-10, Sullivan, 26, finished eighth among league defensemen in points with 49 (12-37). In four seasons with San Antonio, he amassed 89 points (21-68) in 183 AHL games.
Prior to his time in the AHL, Sullivan spent four years at Boston University and posted 43 points (9-34) in 155 collegiate games. In his first full professional season, he also appeared in 22 games with Arizona of the CHL.
The 6-foot, 190-pound native of Boston originally was selected by Phoenix in the ninth round (272nd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
