Reaney assigned to Thunder
Rookie center Les Reaney has been assigned to the Stockton Thunder from American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons.
Reaney, 23, is scheduled to wear jersey No. 17 and make his professional debut with the Thunder on Saturday, March 15 against the Fresno Falcons.
The Ceylon, Saskatchewan, native was signed by the Falcons as a free agent on February 16, 2008 and previously spent three years (2005-08) of his college hockey career at Niagara University (NCAA), scoring 99 points (34g-65a) with 191 penalty minutes in 97 career games for the Purple Eagles.
The 6-foot-2, 221-pound pivot was an All-CHA conference honoree in his freshman and sophomore seasons, additionally garnering co-CHA Rookie of the Year honors as a 2005-06 freshman after shattering the conference rookie scoring record with 40 points (13g-27a) in 35 games.
As a sophomore, Reaney was 13th in NCAA scoring and led Niagara with a career-high 44 points (16-g28a) in 37 games while notching his second straight All-CHA honoree.
Reaney spent four years (2001-05) of his Tier II Junior A career with Williams Lake, Vernon-Williams Lake, Vernon and Salmon Arm of the British Columbia Hockey League, scoring 291 points (117g-174a) with 450 penalty minutes in 235 career games.
